KING AND SPADINA
TORONTO THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS
From the bleak intersection of King and Spadina a traditional Victorian building and cafe transforms into a social media supported art and garden hotel. A youth-oriented space redefining the presumptions of what a hostel could be. The hotel is designed to accommodate 20-38 year old’s for extended stays, while providing them with opportunities within the hotel to exhibit their art, installations and workshops. The hotel pushes the boundaries of traditional retail and circulation structure by providing an open workspace and a gallery that travels and transitions throughout the hotel in dramatic and unconventional methods.
The misleading exterior creates a jarring transition; from the dull streetscape to a public garden social hub. The suite interiors are every changing and are each uniquely designed to include both comfort and excitement due to the interior artwork and furniture catered specifically for that room. The elements within the spaces undergo changes periodically resulting in a new experience for our clients with each visit.
CONCEPT MODEL
Modernism, Art and Illusions
THE FUTURE OF HOTEL DESIGN
Three elements that have become an integral aspect in the design of this hotel. An experience unmatched in Toronto, heavily dependent on the hotel as the social attraction. In a world of technology and social media creating space that speak to the targeted demographic equates to Instagram-ability and shock value. Creating a space that is unseen and unparalleled will drive millennials and Generation Z to our door. The circulation and consistent scheduling of events and expos through our app will create an unending financial gain. However, any hotel can provide these elements but within our walls we sell more than just rooms and coffees we sell an experience.
FLOOR PLANS
The garden of the sky is the hidden gem of our hotel, it is situated in the rear and is accessible through the exterior elevator that travels throughout the floors down into the underground path. The glass tabletop garden serves as a gallery exhibition space and is open to our VIP members including artist and our staying clients. Adjacent to the floating paradise is a private mini version dedicated exclusively to the presidential penthouse.
